what this site collects

dear here, is a small, one-person project. This page says plainly what happens when you use it — no cookie banner, because nothing here needs your consent to run.

if you sign the guestbook or plant something in the garden

Your name (optional) and message are stored so they can be shown publicly once reviewed. New entries are held back until approved — nothing you submit appears immediately. We don't store your IP address alongside your entry.

Cloudflare Turnstile

Guestbook and garden submissions are checked byCloudflare Turnstile to keep out spam bots. Turnstile runs in your browser and may set its own cookie and briefly see your IP address to do that check — this site never sees or stores it. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

YouTube videos

PLACE recordings are hosted on YouTube. The player is not loaded until you click play, using youtube-nocookie.com — so nothing is requested from YouTube just by visiting the page. Once you press play, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.

if you sign in to /dear with Google

Signing in uses Google to confirm who you are. We store your Google account id and the email/name Google gives us, to run your account — this is never shown publicly. Letters you write there are separate from your Google identity's public visibility; what you sign a letter with is your choice, not your account name.

the admin panel

Only the site's one admin can sign in to /admin. This has nothing to do with visitor data — it's how PLACEs get published and how guestbook/garden entries get reviewed.

what we don't do

No analytics, no ad trackers, no third-party scripts beyond the two named above. If that ever changes, this page changes with it.

contact / your data

To ask what's stored about you, or to have a guestbook/garden entry or account removed, write to heydearhere@gmail.com.
